The 83rd Annual Meeting of the Mid-Atlantic Section of the AUA (MA-AUA) held from September 11-13, 2025 at The Sheraton Niagara Falls and the Niagara Falls Convention Center in New York highlights the work of medical students, residents, allied health professionals, and urologists (both within our section and from around the country).

Upon completion of this educational activity, participants will be able to:

  1. Evaluate emerging modalities in managing non-muscle invasive and muscle invasive urothelial cancer, from intravesical instillations to biomarkers to immunotherapies and genetic evaluation
  2. Integrate into practice appropriate surgical techniques for managing patients with BPH in larger glands such as laser enucleation, aquablation, and robotic prostatectomy while understanding the differences in recovery and complication profiles of each
  3. Adapt to the changing landscape of prostate cancer diagnosis with a better understanding of the AUA guidelines on the use of PSA, biomarkers, imaging studies and biopsy techniques
  4. Select appropriate options for managing prostate cancer in the modern era, including focal therapies and advanced surgical techniques being utilized in minimally invasive prostatectomy, utilizing tools available to better risk stratify patients who would benefit these treatment modalities
  5. Evaluate and manage patients with incontinence after prostate cancer therapies, including challenging cases that may arise for patients with these issues such as redo surgery, concomitant strictures, and radiation therapy
  6. Evaluate patients with acquired buried penis syndrome and associated clinical issues, implementing multimodal approaches to surgical planning and therapy, when required
  7. Evaluate recent clinical trials and data related to patients with posterior urethral valves and the opportunities to improve the health of these individuals at different stages over the course of their lifetimes
  8. Overcome challenges related to education of medical students, residents and fellows given the rapidly changing environment of surgical education
  9. Analyze the factors that have lead to advancement in the treatment of less common urologic conditions such as upper tract urothelial carcinoma
  10. Consider the challenges and pitfalls inherent to urologic global health outreach work in the modern era and setting themselves and their teams up for successful, long-lasting and impactful work in under resourced areas with urologic need
  11. Develop strategies for dealing with significant surgical complications with a better understanding of coping techniques, second-victim syndrome, and personal development and growth in these challenging settings
  12. Hone critical analysis of urologic manuscripts and research and determine how these results and be applied selectively in clinical practice
  13. Deploy selective work-up of microhematuria in alignment with the new AUA guideline updates
  14. Evaluate patients with stage 2 seminoma and their candidacy for therapies such retroperitoneal lymph node dissection or chemotherapy based on recent clinical trial data
  15. Evaluate and manage patients with chronic orchalgia and chronic pelvic pain syndrome/pelvic floor dysfunction in a streamlined and effective fashion.
  16. Determine ways to increase testosterone levels outside of exogenous testosterone supplementation for the hypogonadal male who wishes to preserve fertility while considering the risks and benefits of these options
  17. Select appropriate therapeutic options when evaluating and managing female patients with urinary incontinence and sexual dysfunction

AUA ACCREDITATION INFORMATION

Accreditation: This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the accreditation requirements and policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through the joint providership of the American Urological Association (AUA) and Mid-Atlantic Section. The AUA is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

Credit Designation: The American Urological Association designates this live activity for a maximum of 17.00 AMA PRA Category 1 CreditsTM. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Other Learners: The AUA is not accredited to offer credit to participants who are not MDs or DOs. However, the AUA will issue documentation of participation that states that the activity was certified for AMA PRA Category 1 CreditsTM.

Evidence Based Content: It is the policy of the AUA to ensure that the content contained in this CME activity is valid, fair, balanced, scientifically rigorous, and free of commercial bias.

AUA Disclosure Policy: All persons in a position to control the content of a CME activity are required to disclose to the AUA, as the ACCME-accredited provider, all financial relationships with any ineligible company (formerly commercial interests) during the previous 24 months.
